I devoured this book and then the next two books as they are just GOOD, with great characters and good military SF. Stonewall Jackson and the “Old Man's Friend”. I'm pretty sure you do get a little more closure (the main girl from Old Man's War is again huge), but don't go into it expecting more John. We have an uneven love for Hugo-nominated science fiction author John Scalzi here at GFR. These days I'm actually less interested in finding the next Book of the New Sun, and more on the lookout for books like Old Man's War or Little Brother, what John Scalzi calls entry-level science fiction. Before I even begin to rant about Old Man's War, the debut Sci-Fi novel by John Scalzi, I just want to say that I enjoyed reading this novel immensely. I love love love Scalzi's Old Man's War, and would easily classify it as one of the best science fiction novels I've ever read.
